How does Turo car insurance work?
Turo car insurance requirements vary if you are a vehicle owner or the person renting a car. If you’re an owner, you must contact your insurance broker and notify your insurer if you plan to rent your vehicle on Turo. You require a Turo commercial auto insurance policy. If you fail to notify your insurer, your claims could be denied, and you could have your policy cancelled. You can use Turo insurance coverage or your personal policy if you are a guest.
How does Turo insurance work for hosts (car owners)?
Vehicle owners must check with their insurance provider to ensure they can use Turo. Not all insurers will issue a policy for this activity. You may need to switch providers to get coverage in place. Speak with your broker about your options.
Once you get Turo insurance coverage, it will take effect when you deliver a vehicle to a renter and during rental periods.

What if a Turo guest gets into an accident when driving my car?
Any damage or accident claims will apply to your commercial Turo policy. It will not impact your personal car insurance rates. You will not be personally penalized. You will be responsible for any damage above and beyond your insurance or protection plan as a guest.
How does Turo insurance work for guests (vehicle renters)?
When you rent a vehicle using Turo, you are provided insurance coverage for your rental period. You can choose from several insurance coverage options. All plans include liability, accident benefits, and physical damage protection up to the policy limits. Insurance does not include mechanical or interior damage to the host’s vehicle.
You do not require your insurance. But, if you have auto insurance that includes coverage for non-owned vehicles, this will become the primary coverage. Review your policy with your broker to confirm coverage.
